Thin surface subgroups of lattices in SL(3,R)

Thin groups (by which we mean Zariski dense subgroups of infinite index in lattices) have seen an explosion of interest recently, from a variety of perspectives; e.g. arithmetic, geometric and group theoretic. In this talk we will discuss constructions and properties of thin surface subgroups of lattices in SL(3,R).
